Technovation

Over the course of 12 weeks, 5 ladies from the 5th grade learned the basics of scratch and built an app. As their mentor, I made sure they understood each lesson and how it relates to their business so they could complete the product. Paper prototyping, competitive analysis, peer surveys, pitch decks, and a working prototype, they successfully made a recipe finder that helps other kids feel confident in the kitchen and eat healthy.

I also mentored a team of sr high students, who built an app that scans the ingredients of packaged food and tells you if any harmful additives are in the snack. All of these students now have first-hand experience building software and are interested in pursuing careers in computer science. Would highly recommend becoming a mentor at your local Technovation chapter to help young women realize opportunities in STEM.
